UPDATED: Traffic diverted on Hwy. 98 after accident damages power pole

Eastbound traffic along U.S. Hwy. 98 near the Marler Street intersection is flowing again after a rollover wreck involving a pickup truck shorlty before the lunch hour.

Batallion Chief Mike Urenda from the Destin Fire Control District told The Log the driver of the vehicle was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in stable condition.

The wreck had caused first responders and deputies from the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office to close down both eastbound lanes of traffic, routing cars north onto Marler Street to Mountain Drive.

Both eastbound lanes on Hwy. 98 (Harbor Blvd.) are currently blocked at the Marler Street intersection.

Eastbound traffic is being routed north on Marler Street to Mountain Drive.

Gulf Power is repairing a damaged power pole from a traffic accident that occurred late this morning. Gulf Power and Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputies are on the scene. The repairs are expected to last several hours.
