It's not every day one has dinner with the governor, but Councilman Jim Foreman recently had the chance to dine in Tallahassee.

"The experience of meeting the governor and his wife as a guest in their home, along with the top leadership of military veteran’s organizations from throughout Florida is very special," Foreman told The Log.

Foreman and his wife, Marguerite, joined several hundred guests at the governor's mansion in Tallahassee for a veteran's reception, which was hosted by Gov. Rick Scott and the first lady, Ann.

The guests represented veterans organizations, elected and appointed officials and families of those selected for induction into the Florida Veterans Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony took place Tuesday, and included the late U.S. Rep. Sam Gibbons, former two-term Comptroller Bob Milligan, retired Army Maj. Gen. John Cleland, retired Marine Corps Maj.John Haynes, Navy reservist Capt. Jeanne Rubin and retired Navy Capt. Robert Silah.

As a 20-year Army veteran, Foreman told The Log that the experience was one that he wouldn't soon forget.

"I was honored simply for the opportunity."
