Lawmen nab accused shoplifter, find pills in her purse
A woman accused of shoplifting was also charged with drug possession after an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy found pills in her purse.
According to an arrest report, 34-year-old Noelle Lance Wright of Choctaw Beach entered Luxe Apothetique on Legendary Drive and chose the following items: Drizy bracelet, pearl drop earrings, an oversized clutch and a candle.
Total value of the items was $128.
She then left the store without paying for any of the items, a Luxe employee told a deputy.
Wright’s purse was searched after she was detained and a deputy reportedly found two capsules that were identified as acetaminophen/oxycodone. Wright said she had a prescription for the pills but couldn’t produce it.
She was charged with petit larceny and possession of a controlled substance. Her court date is Jan. 7.
Not happy with local deputies, man demands 'state police'
Lawmen say a man interfered with their investigation of a possible driving under the influence case, so they arrested him.
The incident occurred on Harbor Boulevard in Destin. A truck containing four men was stopped by an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputy, who radioed for backup.
“After making contact with the driver, he informed Deputy (withheld) he had a firearm inside the vehicle,” a deputy wrote in the arrest report. “Deputy (withheld) detained the driver and it was obvious he was intoxicated.”
The other three men were detained briefly but later released when deputies determined they hadn’t done anything wrong.
One of the men, who is from Bokeelia, Fla., refused to leave the scene and kept asking for “the state police,” according to the report. He was told to leave but didn’t, and when a deputy grabbed his wrist to cuff him the man pulled away.
He was charged with obstruction without violence and has a Dec. 17 court date.
