Three people were transported to local hospitals this afternoon with non life-threatening injuries after a two vehicle wreck in front of the Destin Taco Bell on U.S. Hwy. 98.

First responders from the Destin Fire Control District were assisting the injured parties when The Log arrived on scene. Fire officials say that a Chevy van rear-ended smaller truck before hitting the corner of the building and coming to rest in the restaurant's drive thru lane.

The airbag on the Chevy van was deployed and the front bumper could be seen about 50 feet away from the vehicle in the shrubs.

City building inspector Noell Bell was on scene, checking the building's integrity. The restaurant remained open as patrons could be seen dining after the incident.

Westbound traffic was backed up after the accident, but has since been cleared.
