Highway 98 traffic, just east of Rooms To Go, slowed down Friday afternoon after a silver Mercedes coupe and a semi truck collided at about 11:30 a.m.

The Mercedes was trapped beneath the semi truck's trailer. The driver was carried away on a stretcher with only minor injuries, according to first responders at the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer stated “One minute he was on my right and the next he was under my truck coming out the left side.”

The collision caused a side accident, damaging the rear of a silver Toyota Rav4 with North Carolina plates.  A victim from the car was carried off to the ambulance, but it is unknown if the individual was a passenger or driver. A firefighter with Destin Fire Rescue said the Rav4 was not involved with the initial accident with the semi and Mercedes.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, EMS and Destin Fire Rescue were on the scene.
