The City of Destin recently awarded Corey Anderson the 2013 Employee of the Year Award and Webb Warren the 2013 Leader of the Year Award. These two awards are the city’s top staff honors.

Anderson’s role in the city is geographic information systems manager and Warren is the information systems and technology director.

The awards are given annually and recipients are selected from the year’s employee of the quarter nominations, as well as from write-ins by staff. A committee reviews all staff nominations and makes the selections. Mayor Seevers and the Destin City Council publicly recognized Anderson and Warren at the Jan. 6 city council meeting.

“I enjoy working for a city that has drive and passion to serve its citizens, visitors and business,” said Anderson. “My co-workers are great to work with, and we all work as a team to achieve the city’s mission and goals.”

Anderson began service to the city on March 6, 2006. As the GIS manager, he establishes and tests maps and thematic layers. He provides inter-departmental support to engineering, public services, planning, building, code enforcement and emergency management.

His work provides mapping for zoning, land use, roads, stormwater structures, fire hydrants, property boundaries, sidewalks, 911 addresses and much more. He has also assumed additional responsibilities of IT support, and he is a volunteer school crossing guard at Destin Elementary School.

Warren is in his eighth year of service with the City of Destin. He is responsible for management, supervision and administration of the city’s information and technology services including infrastructure, systems administration, geographical information systems and public information. He provides information analysis and helps departments rework business processes to align with strategic and departmental goals.

“I am proud to be a part of Team Destin…,” Warren said. “I see great things in our future, in technology and every other aspect of our community.”
