Club LA rolling out spring concert series

Are you ready to rock? The 2014 concert season at Club LA kicked off Sunday night with Saliva and Full Devil Jacket.

As Destin's only pure rock venue, Club LA has been satisfying locals’ fix for heavy metal and rock, bringing in both national and regional acts.

"It's been really good to start the year out this way," said Greg "Gonzo" Sutton, program director for WZLB-FM Destin/Ft. Walton Beach. "It's a place they like and a place they are comfortable with."

Partnering with Rock Destin and 103.1 The Blaze, the club, located next to Hurricane Lanes, has seen the likes of In This Moment, Nonpoint, Smile Empty Soul, the Butcher Babies and Pop Evil grace the stage.

"We do this for the community," Sutton said. "This whole project was brought about because we wanted to bring people entertainment and something they wanted."

The spring schedule is already set with Grind, an Alice in Chains tribute Band, and the Helvetica Effect hitting the stage March 7. Blacklite District, which is receiving massive radio play on SiriusXM's Octane with their track "With Me Now," Stone Glory and Paisty Jenny round out the month with a show March 27.

April's lineup includes the likes of Sevendust, who will be performing an entirely acoustic set, Soil, Tantric, Social 66, Fuel, Cage the Gods, Monster Truck, a fan favorite from Blazefest, and Rehab, which is on its farewell tour with Almost Kings.

Uncle Kracker will perform May 1 with special guest Andy Velo.

As a smaller venue, Sutton told The Log both bands and fans appreciate the friendly confines of Club LA.

"That intimacy gives us something really special," he said. "To be up close with these big names in rock and roll, and to be able to have a drink with them after the show is awesome."
