Breakfast with ‘a touch of the harbor’

Bridget Carnley dreamed of owning a restaurant for nearly a decade before The Breakfast Table Café opened its doors. A long-time resident of Destin, Carnley wanted to give back to the community through food — offering a relaxed, family environment for people to gather and eat.

“I just love the city of Destin and its residents,” Carnley said. “This is my way of serving them and giving back. I wanted to bring back that quaintness and intimacy of breakfast. It’s truly a family-oriented meal that connects people. So, combining that with a touch of the harbor, I want people to feel like they’ve come home.”

The Breakfast Table Café makes everything fresh daily, from their quiche to their pies and daily specials. Two of their top-selling breakfast entrees are the shrimp and grits made with fresh caught local shrimp served with asiago cheese grits, and the Breakfast Sundae made with creamy grits or hash browns topped with scrambled eggs, lite or over easy, cheese, bacon in a bowl with toast or biscuit.

“Our breakfast is very popular because we use local, fresh ingredients,” Carnley said. “And paired with locally roasted Amavida coffee — you can’t go wrong.”

And if you’re not in the mood for breakfast, the restaurant stays open for lunch. The Breakfast Table Café offers sandwiches made with gluten free Boars Head meats and cheese, salads and soups, and daily dessert specials. With a great team of chefs and servers, Carnley said The Breakfast Table Café “isn’t a place you just stumble on, but you’ll be glad you found us.”

The restaurant is decorated in a “harbor rustic theme,” with fishing rods and oars hanging on the walls, to capture Carnley’s fondness of the Destin harbor. The decorations are also kid-friendly — you can draw on the paper tablecloths with crayons or play one of the card games on-hand, like Crazy Eights or Go Fish.

“We want this to be a fun place to bring your family and loved ones,” Carnley said. “If you’ve been blessed or need a prayer, The Breakfast Table Café is a place where you can share.”

The Breakfast Table Café is located at 385 U.S. Hwy 98 E. in Destin and is open daily from 6 a.m. - 2 p.m, but closed Wednesdays. For more information, visit their website at or call 460-7322.
