Cheering for victory
The Destin Middle School Marlin Cheer squad showed their school spirit in a big way during a recent competition at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
The Lady Marlins were the only middle school squad in attendance, and so they were given the chance to compete in the high school division. Not allowing the older girls to intimidate them, the squad took the competition by storm.
“Not only did the Marlin Squad hold their own with the older girls, the squad won first place overall, becoming Cheer Extreme Champions,” said Destin Middle School Principal Charlie Marello.
Eighth graders Ellie Pope, Autumn Rivera and Renee England also received All American nominations and the Marlin Cheer Squad has been invited to perform at the Capital One Bowl in Orlando this December.
