Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation presents ‘ALMOST STYX’

Bring your favorite chair and some snacks, while enjoying live music and a celebration of cultural arts. Almost Styx is set to perform on the Dugas Pavilion Sunday as part of the Concerts in the Village at the Mattie Kelly Arts Village.

Flash back to the ‘70s and ‘80s and imagine it’s a hot summer night in 1979 as STYX rocks a huge arena crowd, but wait it’s 2014!

Come sail away with theMattie Kelly Arts Foundation (MKAF) and Trustmark Bank to celebrate the Labor Day Weekend with a special musical tribute to STYX! “Almost Styx,” a tribute show will take to the stage at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village on Sunday, Aug. 31st at 7 p.m. for an amazing performance featuring incredible vocal harmonies and familiar rock tunes like “Come Sail Away,” ballads like “Babe,” monster hits like “Too Much Time On My Hands” and magical songs like “Grand Illusion,” “Suite Madame Blues” and many more.

 Voted as one of the top 10 things to do in Northwest Florida by Florida Travel & Tourism Guide, Concerts in the Village has become a popular music experience that targets audiences of all ages spanning four generations. 

MKAF CEO Marcia Hull announced, “After our first full year of opening the expanded Village Green and Dugas Pavilion, the Concerts in the Village continues to introduce this new open-air venue to record crowds as an affordable cultural celebration not to be missed.”

Almost Styx is a high energy band formed from some of the most seasoned musicians in the Tampa Bay area. Created in 2009, Almost Styx has been rocking at the national level and brings an authentic vintage-like performance filled with vocal harmonies, energetic arena rock tunes and fun ballads mirroring the 1973-1983 original Styx band. Almost Styx has performed for thousands of audience members across the United States at well-known venues such as Margaritaville-Biloxi. Almost Styx will take to the stage at The Dugas Pavilion to perform the most popular hits we know and love.

Grab your favorite lawn chair, pack a picnic and wine or purchase dinner prepared fresh onsite by Jim ‘N Nicks Bar-B-Q, including a kid’s menu. Bottled water, soft drinks and select beers and wine are available to purchase on-site with proceeds to benefit the MKAF's cultural and education mission.

Children can enjoy playing on the Fort Tringas Playground, eating snow cones and dancing to the live music while parents enjoy the outdoor setting and concert. Tickets are $20 per person or $15 for MKAF members and kids under 12 are free.

MKAF offers an inviting way to host friends, family or business clients by reserving VIP concert tables. Limited VIP tables and seating for up to eight guests are available to purchase by contacting the MKAF office at 850-650-2226 to reserve preferred seating. The Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village is located at 4323 Commons Drive West in Destin, just off Commons Drive and north of Henderson Beach State Park and west of Home Depot. Parking is available on-site and adjacent at Grace Lutheran Church.
