UPDATE: Body washes ashore west of Destin

UPDATE

On Monday, an autopsy revealed potentially suspicious circumstances may have surrounded the death of the man whose body was found washed ashore on a beach west of Destin’s East Pass on Nov. 30.

Positive identification of the man is still pending and details surrounding the nature of the suspicious circumstances are not being released at this time. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office continues investigation of this incident. 

ORIGINAL STORY

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a male’s body was discovered washed ashore today on a beach west of Destin’s East Pass.

The body was spotted in front of the Eglin beach club area around 7:40 Sunday morning by a boat captain, according to a sheriff's office press release. A forensic autopsy will be conducted by the medical examiner’s office to attempt to determine the person’s identity and manner of death.

The OCSO will release additional information once a positive identification has been made.
