The von Trapps are coming to Destin for a special performance alongside Sinfonia Gulf Coast. Sofia, Melanie, Amanda, and August von Trapp are siblings who are following the footsteps of their great-grandparents Maria and Captain Georg Johannes von Trapp whose lives were made famous by the film "The Sound of Music." The historic von Trapp family escaped Nazi-occupied Austria to the United States in 1939 and toured the country and later the world with their family choir.

Today the musical von Trapp siblings have also traveled the world with their music with both original repertoire and historical Austrian and American folk songs.

Joining Sinfonia Gulf Coast for a special Christmas concert, the von Trapps will perform at Destiny Worship Center in Miramar Beach on Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. The performance will mark the first time the von Trapps have partnered with Sinfonia.

“The von Trapps are guest artists with the symphony,” said Sinfonia Music Director Demetrius Fuller. “They will perform mainly holiday songs, and there will be a couple Sound of Music tunes in their as well.”

Tickets range from $29.50-42.50 and can be purchased online or by calling the Sinfonia Gulf Coast box office. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.SinfoniaGulfCoast.org or call 850-269-7129.
