Destin Elementary School was bursting with pink, purple, orange, and green during Thursday’s Color Run field day. As students ran laps around the field to raise money for the school, parent volunteers doused them with colorful powder. Students in first to fourth grade participated in the colorful event, while children in pre-school and kindergarten were given bracelets for each lap completed.

“We wanted to move away from Booster-thon because of the percentage that they took from our event,” said color run organizer and PTO Vice President Tara Scott. “We came up with the color run and even made a theme, ‘Show your true colors’ to tie it all together.”

Money raised from the event will go to help fund DES programs and equipment costs.
