Memorial Day is a day set aside to celebrate and remember those who have served in the armed forces and fought for our Nation. This Memorial Day weekend, enjoy some star spangled fun at the Village of Baytowne Wharf starting May 23.

“Everyone should come to The Village of Baytowne Wharf this Memorial Day weekend because we have fun for the whole family,” said Events Manager Julie Stuckey. “Guests can walk around our lovely village, shop, dine with us and enjoy some very talented musicians in a family friendly environment.”

On Saturday, festivities will kickoff with live music at the Events Plaza by Farewell Angelina at 7 p.m., with other live acts performing throughout the weekend like local favorite Coconut Radio.

Be sure to bring the kids along Sunday as there will be many activities for them to take part in. Beginning at 6 p.m., Stuckey said face painting, balloon sculpting, lawn games and kid’s crafts will be available. And you’ll want to stick around for the dazzling fireworks display wrapping up the evening at 9:15 p.m.

Stuckey told The Log Monday’s events will include a special program at 7 p.m. presented by the Sandestin Veterans.

“We are honored to have Lt. Col Jason Fick, Commander First Special Operations Communications Squadron at Hurlburt Field as our guest speaker, as well as guests Col. Don Ullrich and Dr. Mark Elovitz,” she said.

Walton High School’s JROTC and the Fort Walton Beach High School Viking band will also be apart of the program as well as Boy Scout Troop 562.

“Walton County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard will perform the three volley salute and special guest Morgan Garner will sing the National Anthem,” Stuckey said.

“This is one of our annual events, and is always a lot of fun for our resort guests,” she said.
