Are you ready to tantalize your taste buds and satisfy your need for barbeque? Be sure to take part in the 5th Annual Smoke on the Coast BBQ & Fireworks Festival at Destin Commons, July 3.

Partake in a fun-filled evening on Friday, July 3rd to kick off the July 4th weekend at the 5th Annual Smoke on the Coast BBQ & Fireworks Festival at Destin Commons.

The event will feature its traditional BBQ competition with competitors vying for the coveted “People’s Choice Award.”  New this year is a panel of three distinguished judges who will also determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place Judge’s Pick Awards.

Area restaurants and BBQ aficionados will light up their grills to prepare their best dishes. The question is, will any contenders be able to beat the four-time reigning People’s Choice champion, ValleyCrest? Your vote gets to pick the winner.

Starting at 5 p.m., for $1 per sampling, attendees can cast their vote for People’s Choice winners. Proceeds will benefit Children in Crisis, Building Homes for Heroes and Food For Thought.

There will be plenty of entertainment and happenings throughout Smoke on the Coast to include kid’s activities and street performers. With continuous music beginning at 2 p.m., the main stage in the expansion area by H&M will feature the bands Heritage and The Wide Open, along with other local favorites to keep the party going.

The evening concludes at 9:15 with a finale of the area’s first fireworks – a spectacular display along with patriotic music over the skyline of Destin Commons.

“Our family goes to Smoke on the Coast every year,” commented Jo Chandler. “We wouldn’t miss the annual happening, it’s so lively and entertaining, not to mention the yummy barbeque samplings and fantastic fireworks.”

Along with 30A as the official beer sponsor serving their famous 30A® Beach Blonde Ale, other Smoke on the Coast BBQ & Fireworks Festival sponsors this year are Wyndham Vacation Rentals, Hwy 98.1 Radio, ValleyCrest, Emerald Coast Title Services, Waste Management, Life’s A Beach, First City Bank-Destin, Insurance Zone and Gulf Power.
