Envision Destin meetings kick-off Monday

The Destin Log

Envision Destin, the city’s process to help update its Comprehensive Plan (the document that sets the guidelines for future growth), will continue with a second series of public workshops on July 20, 21 and 22 (see schedule below). The public is encouraged to continue to participate in these meetings.

The first set of workshops in May were well attended, according to a press release from the city of Destin, and included an overview of citywide assets and challenges, 244 completed Community Values Surveys, and open discussions. In preparation for the second series of public workshops, Canin Associates, the team the city hired to guide the visioning process, has thoroughly analyzed the public’s survey results, comments, ideas and concerns. Additionally, they have taken a close look at Destin’s existing Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code to pinpoint policies and regulations that might conflict with the vision of Destin’s residents.

At the July meetings, attendees will have the chance to explore, assess and comment on different development outcomes. Canin Associates will prepare a set of 3D models, photo simulations, and site plans to encourage conversation.
