It's a Wendy's: Destin Fast food chain is moving east

“Wow! It's a Wendy’s!” reads a new sign on a 1.43-acre plot of land at 34717 Emerald Coast Parkway. The parcel was sold to Wendco Corporation last month for $1,150,000.
Local franchise owner Roger Webb said that the new restaurant location will replace the existing Destin Wendy’s currently located at 1071 Hwy 98 East.
“We will be essentially moving the other location to this new property,” he said.
Webb told The Log that there are several reasons for the move, mentioning two as top priorities.
“We will own the land, as we lease the property we are on now,” he said. “And we are trying to be able to draw from both the Destin and Sandestin areas.”
As for the design, Webb said the new Wendy’s location will feature a more relevant look, as the original location was built in 1985.
“It will be a new modern style,” he said. “A lot brighter, with a more contemporary look to it. The layout will be different with a with new and improved cooking process to make the food quicker and the people happier.”
This will be the 43rd franchise location for Webb, but a first ground-up build-out for his Florida locations.
“We have done it about six times in South Alabama, but this will be the first in Florida going from the ground up,” he said.
Work on the site is set to begin in late August to early September, and grand opening is anticipated by the end of the year.
