Honoring a Hero: Cynthia Wilson

With 30 years in the telecommunication industry under her belt, Cindy Wilson was able to take her passion for serving others and turn it into something amazing.
Wilson has always had a love for philanthropy and volunteerism as well as a tremendous amount of talent in her field. It was with this passion that she was able to become the chair and CEO of the Shepard's Walk Foundation with a mission to "glorify Jesus Christ and serve Him under the guidance of the Holy Spirit through effective stewardship of the resources He has entrusted to us."
As CEO and Chair, Wilson provides three dimensions of focused stewardship through sharing her talent, time and treasure. For over 10 years, she has been responsible for shaping the foundation's strategies, evaluating the results and setting the overall direction for the foundation.
It is no secret that Wilson has a desire to serve within her church and continuously shares her time as an active member of Destin United Methodist Church. She even takes her acts to a global level while serving as the Coordinator for International Student Outreach Team which provides housing, meals and mentoring to students from around the world while working in Destin. Cindy encourages us all to "come together as a community to serve our international guests and in the process change the world."
Wilson's desire to give back does not stop there. She participates on the board for OTHERS of Destin, Regent of the West Florida chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Between her numerous acts of service, Wilson loves to spend quality time with her three boys as well as taking walks on the beautiful Destin beaches. Residing on the Emerald Coast for 20 years has given her the opportunity to build relationships in the heart of Destin all while putting others needs first.
Wilson will be honored as part of the weekly Red, White and Blue Celebration at HarborWalk Village Thursday at 7 p.m. For more information, see www.theemeraldgrande.com/events.
