Mid-Bay Bridge Authority to vote on new toll options

Special to The Log

The Mid-Bay Bridge Authority, will hold a special meeting Thursday, Aug. 20, at 1 p.m. to vote on a new toll schedule for the use of the Mid-Bay Bridge and Spence Parkway.

The meeting will take place in the board room at Destin City Hall, 4200 Indian Bayou Trail.

The Authority, which owns and manages State Toll Road 293 comprising the Mid-Bay Bridge, Danny Wuerffel Way, and the Spence Parkway and its approaches, is required to set toll rates to meet the revenue requirements of its bond issue. The group refinanced its previous debt in June to keep tolls as low as responsibly possible. It has also completed traffic and toll studies and analyzed toll options that carry local discounts and commuter rebates.

In preparation for Thursday’s vote, the Authority has also considered feedback from the public at two informational sessions in July.
