A Fort Walton Beach man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop for an expired registration.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputies pulled 31-year-old Joseph Claude Bradford over on Aug. 30 around 5:15 a.m. on Commons Drive in Destin, according to the arrest report. Deputies asked Bradford for his license, registration and proof of insurance, but he was unable to provide any of the documents.

Deputies noticed an empty beer bottle at Bradford's feet and smelled a faint odor of alcohol coming from his direction, the report said. Bradford was asked to step out of the vehicle to determine if he was intoxicated.

Deputies asked him if he had anything illegal on his person and he said he didn't. They asked for permission to search him and he consented.

During the search, deputies found a plastic bag with a white powder substance, the report said. Bradford allegedly said it was "Molly" and that he'd forgotten he had it on him.

The powder tested positive for MDMA.

Bradford is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 6.
