Okaloosa County under flash flood warning

Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties are under a flash flood warning, according toe the National Weather Service in Mobile.

The National Weather Service in Mobile has issued a Flash Flood Warning for: Eastern Santa Rosa county in northwestern Florida. Okaloosa County in northwestern Florida.

The warning is in effect until 7:15 p.m. CDT Monday.

At 1:12 p.m. CDT, National Weather Service meteorologists were monitoring showers and thunderstorms producing very heavy rainfall over the warned area. Radar estimates indicate 4 to 8 inches of rain has fallen over the warned area, with isolated amounts over 11 inches. Additional very heavy rains may result in significant Flash Flooding over the warned area.

Locations impacted include:

Crestview, Fort Walton Beach, Niceville, Navarre, Destin, Valparaiso, Mary Esther, Wright, Ocean City, Eglin Air Force Base and Baker.

Recommended actions

A Flash Flood Warning means flooding is imminent or occurring. Seek higher ground immediately. Do not drive or walk into areas where water crosses a road. Turn around - Don`t drown!
