You may have heard the legend of the great pumpkin, but how about the Great Pumpkin Paddle? LuLu’s is hosting two new events with BooLu’s and The Great Pumpkin Paddle at it’s Destin location Saturday, Oct. 24 with all the fun starting at 2 p.m.

“We used to do a BooLu’s event in Gulf Shores, and we are trying to establish LuLu’s Destin as that family destination that has fun family events for everybody to enjoy,” LuLu’s Destin General Manager Michael Butler said of the event. “We will be having two events going on that day.”

The Great Pumpkin Paddle

As Lulu’s Destin is directly on the Choctawhatchee Bay, it just makes sense for every celebration to embrace the beautiful Florida waters. With The Great Pumpkin Paddle, LuLu’s is hoping to bring back a tradition started by local residents.

“We found out that Paddle Destin, a local social paddling group had done in the past what they called The Great Pumpkin Paddle, so we reached out to them to try to revive it,” said Butler.

The paddle will be a three-pronged event with a pre-carved pumpkin contest, costume contest and of course the stand-up paddle race.

Prizes will be awarded for the best carved pumpkin, the paddler with the best costume, and the best sprint winners.

If you don’t have your own board, never fear, you can rent a board from GUSU by calling 460-7300.

The party continues after the paddle with BooLu’s, an event designed just for the kids kicking off at 5 p.m. Bring your little minions, princesses and superheroes for a free evening of fun.

“We will have 10 stations set up around the property and each station will be themed a little differently,” said Butler. “We will have one set up with witches, one with pirates and skeletons, and the kids can come by each station and get pieces of candy.”

In addition to the candy stations, there will be face painting, inflatable bouncy houses, pumpkin painting, coloring sheets and other kid-friendly crafts. There will also be a kid’s costume contest at 6:30 p.m. with prizes for the top three costumes.

Prizes include LuLu’s gift certificates, tickets to The Track and other prizes from local businesses.

The evening will conclude family-style with a screening of Hocus Pocus on an inflatable screen on LuLu’s beach from 7:30-9 p.m.

“We’re excited for this event and hoping for a really good turnout,” said Butler.

Bring out the whole family for an evening of fall fun LuLu’s-style!
