Ringing in a holly jolly Christmas

A crowd of about 100 gathered at the Destin Community Center Thursday for the annual Christmas Tree lighting.

Jack Frost must have known Thursday night was the city of Destin's annual Christmas Tree lighting, as the temperatures dipped into the low 50s.

The chilly temperatures dampen the mood though. There was plenty of holiday cheer to go around. Youngsters from Noah's Ark Preschool and Destin Middle School, as well as the all-male a cappella Emerald Coast Chorus entertained the crowd of about 100 that braved the elements.

With a massive "ho, ho, ho," led by Councilman Cyron Marler and Mr. and Mrs. Claus, the city's holly tree was aglow.

The city's Christmas Tree is located at the Destin Community Center at 101 Stahlman Avenue.
