Kevin Stringer, Jeff Hartman and Aaron Harp stand in line at AMC Destin Commons Theater 14 awaiting the first showing of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" Thursday.

Only three in Destin were die-hard enough to brave the rain Thursday morning to wait in line for the premier of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Aaron Harp was the first to arrive at AMC Destin Commons Theater 14 at 7 a.m., 12 hours before the first showing of the film.

“I started liking Star Wars somewhere in the early ‘90s,” Harp said. “We had a copy on beta and I would watch it all the time.”

Around 9 a.m. two more fans arrived — Kevin Stringer and Jeff Hartman.

Donning a Darth Vader costume complete with red plastic light-saber, Stringer said his Star Wars journey began at a mere three years of age.

“When episode one came out I stood in line for 17 hours in Pensacola for the midnight showing,” he said.

As for Hartman, he had them both trumped. When the very first Star Wars film came out in 1977, Hartman remembers he was blown away by the film.

“I saw episode four 16 times in theater,” he said. “I was 21 at the time.”
