Winners have been announced for the city of Destin's annual Holiday Decorating Contest.

This year’s contest proved to be difficult to judge as many of Destin homes, businesses and organizations did a fantastic job of showing their Holiday spirit through decorations, according to a press release from the city's recreation department.

"We received multiple phone calls and emails from Destin residents pointing out locations that had done an outstanding job of decorating their property," the release said. "This information was given to the judges who, in turn, canvassed the Destin city limits with the challenging task of picking the best-of-the-best. Many long-time residents of Destin commented that they had not seen this many properties decorated so well in many, many years."

The winner of each category will be recognized by Mayor Ponder and the City Councilors during the Destin City Council meeting, Jan. 5, where they will receive a plaque commemorating the contest.

Contest judges were: Elizabeth Baldwin, Lindsey Anderson, Jordan Dungca, Angie Fears, Sheri Bethea, and Kayla Akins.
