Family Time for the Holidays:
It is once again that time of year
where loved ones come from far and near
to spread a bit of Christmas cheer
to all the ones that they hold dear.
These kids at Destin Elementary School are excited for the holiday break. Children from each grade shared the favorite holiday tradition that they share with their families and friends every year.
Brennan Chandler, 5 years old said:
“They built the Christmas decorations and outside decorations too. My favorite decoration is the three candy canes in my yard.”
Emilyn Kilpatrick, 6 years old said:
“I like to spend time with the people that come to celebrate Christmas with us. My cousin Grace and my other cousins and my Uncle Mel and Aunt Mona.”
Emma Johnson, 9 years old said.
“In the morning, when nobody is awake, if you are the first one awake and your stocking is full, it’s fair game! We have this tradition because my grandma had nine brothers and sisters and they had to fight for everything, I have a big family.”
Campbell Martin, 7 years old said:
“I like Santa Claus bringing me presents and I like opening Christmas presents.”
Ava Clark, 8, and Dylan Clark 6 years old said:
“We do a hula hooping contest on Christmas day. I usually win, my dad thinks he does but he doesn’t.”
“Opening presents and when Santa comes at night.”
