Allegiant named new carrier at VPS

Special to The Log

Allegiant announced Destin / Fort Walton Beach as the newest destination in its network with nonstop service from Cincinnati and St. Louis, according to a press release from the company.

“We are very excited to add Destin / Fort Walton Beach as the newest destination in Allegiant’s network,” said Jude Bricker, Allegiant senior vice president of planning. “These two new flights mark the opportunity for travelers from Cincinnati and St. Louis to visit the Emerald Coast with our low-cost, convenient service. We look forward to bringing visitors and economic growth to our newest destination.”

Seasonal nonstop service to Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) from:

Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) – Begins May 20, 2016 and ends Sept. 5, 2016 with fares as low as $39*

MidAmeria St. Louis Airport (BLV) – Begins June 2, 2016 and ends Sept. 4, 2016 with fares as low as $39*

The new flights will operate twice weekly and will bring more than 12 thousand additional visitors each year to the Destin / Fort Walton Beach area and generate an estimated $3.5 million annually in total visitor spending. Flight days, times and the lowest fares can be found only at Allegiant.com.

“We welcome Allegiant to their newest ‘Destin-ation’ on Florida’s Emerald Coast and are thrilled to build a partnership at the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport,” said Tracy Stage, Okaloosa County Airports interim airports director. “Attracting Allegiant to our region has been a top priority and nonstop service from St. Louis and Cincinnati to our beaches in Okaloosa County is a grand slam for all.”

"I am thrilled to welcome Allegiant Air to our community. Their service on these routes to VPS will create jobs and be a tremendous boost to the local economy?. Northwest Florida has the most beautiful beaches in the world and Allegiant is an ideal partner to help us bring in even more tourists to see them,” said Representative Matt Gaetz (Fort Walton Beach).

“St. Louis and Cincinnati have always looked upon us as their #1 beach for vacations and getaways,” said Ed Schroeder, Emerald Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau director. “Now, they’ll have a great alternative to the twelve-hour drive that allows them to enjoy two extra days on the beach. Instead of anguishing behind the wheel all day, they can let Allegiant do the driving and be here in under two hours, fresh and ready to enjoy paradise.”

Allegiant offers a unique travel option to travelers. Focusing on low-cost leisure travel, the company provides customers with low base fares averaging nearly half of the cost of the average domestic round-trip fare. Allegiant’s innovative business model has allowed the company to grow from one aircraft and one route just over a decade ago, to providing convenient, affordable service in over 100 communities nationwide.
