Momin Ullah rings up some Powerball tickets at the BP convenience store on Eglin Parkway on Monday. Area lottery dealers expect brisk sales for the multi-state lottery this week with a current estimated jackpot of $1.4 billion.

The POWERBALL jackpot for Wednesday’s drawing has been increased to an estimated $1.5 billion. The POWERBALL jackpot has rolled 19 times, since the Nov. 7 drawing. This marks the game’s highest and the world’s largest jackpot ever offered, according to a press release from the Florida Lottery.

Players who want the chance to become Florida’s eleventh POWERBALL jackpot winner can purchase their tickets at any of the more than 13,000 Lottery retailers across the state. Although POWERBALL tickets must be purchased by 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday to be eligible for this drawing, players are encouraged to purchase early to avoid long lines. Additionally, the Florida Lottery would like to remind all players to please play responsibly, as it only takes one ticket to win.

Florida is among the top-selling POWERBALL states of any U.S. lottery, exceeding more than $3.2 billion in sales, yielding $1.3 billion in education funding to date. Since POWERBALL launched in Florida in January 2009, the Florida Lottery has had the most winners in the nation, winning more than $1.5 billion in prizes, including ten jackpot winners. During this jackpot series, more than 3.2 million Florida POWERBALL players have won more than $30.2 million in prizes and more than $70.6 million in revenue has been generated for education.
