Destin Sunoco sells $1 million Powerball ticket

One lucky Destin winner will receive $1 million as a result of Wednesday’s Powerball draw. The winning ticket was sold at the Sunoco gas station at the corner of Beach Drive and Harbor Boulevard.
“Tell everybody to come here, we’re the lucky store,” said Store Manager Velda Dones. “We sold the million dollar ticket here.”
Debbie Link, vice-president for Big Boss Stores and Phillips Energy, said the store will get $1,000 for the winning ticket.
“No matter who it is, I'm glad someone won from one of our stores,” Link said. “But let's hope we can keep it in the community.”
The hype of the record breaking $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot draw on Wednesday brought lots of people through the doors of the local Sunoco to try their luck.
“We sold 535 Powerball tickets here just yesterday (Wednesday) alone,” said Florida Lottery Officer Ann Marie Sims. “It really is jackpot driven. It starts out at $40 million, but once it starts climbing you get lots of people coming in.”
To claim a $1 million prize, players must match all five numbers in the drawing. To win the Powerball jackpot players must match all five numbers plus the Powerball number. There were 11 $1 million winners in Florida. The winning numbers were 4-8-19-27-34 and Powerball 10.
As of Thursday the Destin winner had not yet claimed the prize.
