Laissez bon temps rouler: Celebrate Mardi Gras at Destin Commons, Feb. 5

Let the good times roll, it’s Mardi Gras season from New Orleans all the way to Destin Commons, so come out and join the celebration on Friday, Feb. 5, at Destin Commons from 6 to 8 p.m.
Indulge in an evening full of Mardi Gras excitement with family and friends. At 7 p.m., watch a non-stop lineup of floats, bands and people marching on parade up and down all the streets of Destin Commons between Bass Pro Shops, Belk and Uncle Bucks Fishbowl & Grill. The parade begins and ends at Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl & Grill. Treasures, trinkets, Moon Pies and beads will be plentiful throughout the celebration.
Lively entertainment on the main stage in Center Plaza will be provided by Mr. Big and the Rhythm Sisters, an eight-piece world-class horn band with female vocal troupe. Also, World of Beer will be hosting a party with more than 25 Abita beers on tap so guests can sample all their favorite New Orleans beers.
It’s a fun time for the kids…Build-A-Bear and Arts on the Beach will be on hand to help kids create their own festive Mardi Gras accessories and get their faces painted for the best looking masquerade masks this side of New Orleans. Building Homes for Heroes will be on hand volunteering throughout the Mardi Gras parade.
This year’s Mardi Gras King and Queen will be Steve Barber and Lauren Gall of Barber & Gall Promotions. With their combined 48 years of business experience, Steve and Lauren are prominent public relations professionals in the region who also plan and implement many of the area’s major events for their clients.
“This is our 6th Mardi Gras parade and celebration and it keeps growing every year,” said Bob Perry, Destin Commons general manager. “It’s always a pleasure to see our locals and visitors come out and revel in the festivities.”
