LUCY BUFFETT Advertorial Special to The Log
Lucy Buffett updates and rereleases Gulf Coast cookbook

A rerelease of the 2007 “Crazy Sista Cooking” cookbook, the new “LuLu’s Kitchen, A Taste of the Gulf Coast Good Life” has been up-dated with a new introduction and amazing photography.

The new cookbook, by Lucy Buffett, a restaurateur and sister of famous troubadour Jimmy Buffett, includes her amazing recipes showcasing Classic Southern Coastal Cuisine that is featured in her restaurants in Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Destin.

Come out and meet Lucy Buffett. Join her for a Happy Hour cookbook signing at LuLu’s from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. next Thursday, April 28. She will be on hand with her animated personality to meet and greet guests and personally autograph her hot off the press new cookbook, published by Grand Central Life & Style Publishing. The signing event also ties in with the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Business After Hours event.

Like her brother, Jimmy Buffett, Lucy celebrates freedom, relaxation and sea-side decadence in her own art … cooking. Her previously self-published cookbook sold over 70,000 copies without marketing or much trade distribution. The updated cookbook, “LuLu’s Kitchen, A Taste of the Gulf Coast Good Life,” is packed with more than 120 signature recipes served in Lucy’s famous Gulf Coast restaurants, LuLu’s in Destin and Gulf Shores. With love from Lucy’s kitchens, eating at her restaurants is the next best thing to cooking her recipes yourself.

Even though it’s a cookbook, “LuLu’s Kitchen” reads like a novel you can’t put down. With not only a new introduction and updated photography, renowned novelist Tom McGuane contributed an engaging essay that blends smoothly with the spicy dishes and distinctive drinks. Recipes include soul-satisfying Southern Coastal Cuisine delights like West Indies Salad, Perfect Fried Shrimp, Blackened Grouper Sandwich, Garlic Cheese Grits, Silver Queen Succotash and Heavenly Fried Crab Claws.

And, there’s a whole chapter on 25 specialty drinks, including the Bama Breeze and LuLu’s Painkiller. Tucked inside “LuLu’s Kitchen” are humorous stories and plenty of wit and wisdom from Lucy’s own kitchen. The cookbook also features party menus, Buffett Family favorites and lots of telling it like it is, because after all, Lucy is always all about just being herself.
