The Random Acts of Kindness Kids (RAKK) club at Destin Elementary School held an animal food drive for the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society this month. The food drive became a competition between classes to see who could collect the most pounds of dog and cat food. The top three classes were promised an ice cream party and the top three teachers also won awards of a massage, a gift basket and a family bowling night.
At the end of three-week competi-tion, the school gathered 2,577 pounds of food and pet supplies for PAWS.
The top three classes were:
Michele Rathmann’s 2nd grade class at 541 pounds
Jennifer Street’s 2nd grade class at 327 pounds
Kelly Turner’s Kindergarten class at 240 pounds
