2016 Marlin Olympics

The Marlin Olympics is a right of passage for Destin eighth graders. Just weeks away from moving on to high school in another city, the classmates got together to celebrate with a little healthy competition.

First the eight groups of students took to the track and walked a ceremonial lap dressed in colorful tie-dyed shirts and waving flags for their teams. Next the fun began with water relays, team challenges and finally the ultimate athletic competition, the Iron Marlin.

For the Iron Marlin, students participate challenges such as jump rope, push ups, a 400 meter run and an agility run. The boy and girl that complete every challenge the fastest or with the most strength wins the title of Iron Marlin. This year’s Iron Marlins are Clara Beth Lafollette and Nick Greer.
