Last month Legendary Marine teamed up with Special Operations Wounded Warriors (SOWW) to offer 17 wounded soldiers the chance to fish in the Royall Rumble Cobia Tournament held in their honor. The tournament doubled as a fundraiser with silent auctions and raffle prizes, and in the end $10,944 was donated back to the SOWW to help fund additional trips and tournaments across the nation.

“We (SOWW) cover veterans of special operation units of all branches of the military,” said local wounded veteran and SOWW board member Bobby Dove. “We do family outings, hunting, fishing and camping trips as well as emergency relief, uncovered medical treatment and physiological treatments as well.”

Dove said he first got connected with Legendary Marine when he was looking for a new career start after suf-fering a double amputation due to his combat military service.

Today, Dove runs his own charter fishing boat, Hooligan Charters, out of Destin and said he wants to bring that same joy to veterans like himself.

“SOWW helps do events all over the country, and we are always looking for more support,” he said.

As for the Royalls, a band of family members made up of Todd Royall, brother Travis Royall and cousin Randy Royall who all work at Legendary Marine, their goal is to keep hosting fishing tournaments as a way to give back to those who gave their all to the country.

“We have been running our Royall Rumble fishing tournaments for three years and have chosen different chari-ties each year,” said Todd. “But we have really embraced Bobby’s charity two years ago when he came with his dream to start a fishing charter.”

The Royalls said they are planning another Royal Rumble Tournament for wounded warriors to be held in Louisi-ana this fall.
