Come raise a glass of beer and play games to help honor military personnel and their families.

AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar and Budweiser will host an event for families of fallen and disabled veterans from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 29. Budweiser is a corporate sponsor for Folds of Honor, a non-profit organization that provides educational scholarships to families of the fallen or disabled American military.

“By hosting the Folds of Honor event we are hoping to bring awareness to our community to something they may not often think about … what happens to the children and families of our military service people after they have sacrificed their all for our freedom,” said Rachael Green, who handles events and promotions for AJ’s.

The seafood restaurant will sell Budweiser beer for $3 and for every beer sold a $1 donation will be made to Folds of Honor. One of the activities at the fundraiser will be the plank challenge. With a $1 donation, anyone who enters the challenge will be eligible to win the AJ's gift basket, which includes a $100 AJ's gift certificate, four tickets on the SeaQuest and AJ's merchandise.

Last year, the organization gave 174 scholarships for higher education and 71 scholarships for children’s funds in Florida, according to Sarah White, Folds of Honors' regional development officer.

"Budweiser is a five-star partner to Folds of Honor, donating more than $1 million to create educational scholarships for children and spouses around the country," White said. " Throughout the year, Budweiser creates multiple ways to generate fundraising opportunities for their consumers to give back to Folds of Honor."

Green said the restaurant wanted to help honor the sacrifice of fallen and disabled service men and women by helping their spouses and children with educational scholarships. The goal is to sell 1,500 Budweiser beers.

“There will be live entertainment on the Jumbotron, as well as a street party atmosphere with performers.” she said. “The Village Dolls will help kick things off at 4:30 p.m. and there will be an honorary guest representing Folds of Honor.”
