It’s time for some crawfish as the Rotary Club of Destin gets ready to host its fifth Cinco de Crawdaddy Crawfish Bash.

The event is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 5 at the Warren Averett office, 36474B Emerald Coast Parkway Unit 3301.

All proceeds from the Crawfish Bash will benefit families in need through Food for Thought, Harvest House, Boys & Girls Club of the Emerald Coast, Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation and the Rotary Club's scholarship funds.

“This event is one of our major fundraiser of the year and we are hoping to raise about $15,000 to $16,000,” said Jason Belcher, this year's president of the Destin Rotary Club.

Crawfish from Louisiana will be served along with potatoes and corn on the cob. Hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken will also be available for those who craving something different.

“It’s important for us to support the local community and charities,” said Dion Moniz, the event’s chairman. “The mission of Rotary is to help the youth and hunger.”

The public will be able to enjoy music by Louisiana-based band Fais Do-Do and enter a raffle drawing for different themed packages, including beach activities, bourbon baskets, concert tickets, golf outings and other events. Tickets are on sale for $30 per person, and $10 for children under 12, at Newman-Daily Resort Properties located at 12815 Emerald Coast Parkway in Miramar Beach.

“It’s going to be a great opportunity to listen to music, eat great food and help raise money for worthy charities, all while have a good time.” Moniz said.
