Student ministry gives back to community

Village Baptist Church’s student ministry successfully finished their first Mission Destin summer program recently with the help of Temple Baptist Church.
The church teamed up with Temple Baptist Church from Jonesboro, Arkansas, to share the love of Christ throughout the community. Each day of the week over 50 kids and adults helped in community outreach projects throughout the city. Some of the activities included beach services, door-to-door knocking and service projects at schools.
”We went to Destin elementary and middle schools and helped clean lockers, build desks, and basically helped in whatever the schools needed us to do,” said Wade Smith, Village Baptist Church’s student pastor.
Smith said he is looking forward to working with other churches across the country and in the area.
“Our mission is to help people in the community find hope with Jesus," he said.
