Destin Commons hosted the third annual Destin Charity Cornhole Tournament on Sept. 30 in partnership with Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center (ECCAC) and Cumulus Media. Proceeds from the event benefited ECCAC, a local non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect, protect children, and restore the lives and futures of impacted children.

The competition proved to be a huge success with 75 teams competing in the double elimination tournament. Competitors came from near and far for the chance to win $750 in cash and prizes. The competition was fierce, but in the end the winners of the tournament were Shuck Norris (James Hill and Keith Hugg). Beach Bums (Paul Schroeder and Brian Williams) placed second, and Dilly Dilly (Larry Sanford and Darrelll Palama) finished in third place.

Four sets of cornhole boards painted by local artists and a three-night stay from Southern Rentals & Real Estate were auctioned off to raise an additional $930 for ECCAC. World of Beer provided participants access to the Beer Garden, where they enjoyed bottomless craft beer and fan favorite foods. In total, $10,197 was raised to benefit ECCAC.

“We are so thankful that Destin Commons and Cumulus chooses to partner with us for this tournament every year,” said Chelsea Fox, community development manager for the Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center. “The children that we see every single day are better off because of it. We are also thankful that so many in our community came out for a good time and a good cause.”
