The city of Destin hosted it's annual Open House at the Destin Community Center on Thursday as a part of Florida's City Government week.

From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., residents were able to talk to city officials while enjoying a buffet-style fish fry. Multiple city entities including, the Destin Library, the City Clerk's office and the Community Development department set up tables and displays about their respective organizations.

Mayor Gary Jarvis thanked the public for attending and commended the city for coming together to help with Hurricane Michael relief. The theme for this year's event is the Florida League of Cities' message "My City, I'm part of it, I'm proud of it."

A free Community Shred Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. was also held during the event in the Community Center parking lot. Residents and business were able to bring old documents to be shredded on site within the time frame.
