Cold night shelter to open Tuesday in Okaloosa County

A cold night shelter will be open Tuesday, Dec. 7 at One Hopeful Place in Fort Walton Beach due to a cold weather forecast for the night.

Pick up spots for One Hopeful Place will be at First United Methodist Church on 1st Street at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., according to an email from Tracy Hoodless, site manager at One Hopeful Place.

A ride back downtown will be offered the following morning at 8 a.m.

Dinner and breakfast will be served to those staying at the shelter.

“We allow individuals with pets to stay and we have animal crates to help. We allow showers, and one small load of laundry per person while staying overnight at the shelter,” said Hoodless.
