Jimmy Ray Stephens, former coach of the Walton County High Braves, is returning to Walton County, but to the southern side.

Stephens will be coaching the “offensive line and strength” for the South Walton Seahawks for the 2020 football season, according to Phil Tisa, head football coach and athletic director at South Walton High School.

Stephens, who played at the University of Florida, coached the Fort Walton Beach Vikings to a state championship in the 1990s and is the former head football coach at Walton High School in DeFuniak Springs.

In addition to his high school coaching career, Stephens has coached at University of Florida and Middle Tennessee.

“His experience will be a great asset to the program,” according to the South Walton Seahawk Football Facebook page.
