The Rotary Club of Destin recently received its first district grant award of $3,000 with support from District 6940 ($1,500) and The Rotary Club of Destin ($1,500) and $1,500 matching funds provided by the grant recipient, Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation.

Destin Rotary District Grant Chair, Dion Moniz, said, “The Rotary Foundation funds district grants and global grants that align with the mission of The Rotary Foundation, which is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. On behalf of the Rotary Foundation and The Rotary Club of Destin, we are delighted to award the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s education mission through All Kinds of Art as our first district grant recipient.

The grant project will support the acquisition of “Access Arts,” an investment in an instructional technology bundle that greatly impacts its educational effectiveness in the community. It includes portable document cameras, projectors, laptops, and a portable audio system. This increases the possibility for greater modes of presentation for broadening our audiences, including presentations by teaching visual artists, musicians, theater groups, and lectures. This is particularly effective in schools or community centers where there is limited instructional or technological capacity. It also enables presenting to larger audiences to reach a larger number of students and members of the community who may be inspired by varying modes of artistic learning.

“We are extremely grateful of this grant award to benefit our K-12 All Kinds of Art educational outreach program," said MKAF Education Director Melanie Moore.
