A team from Hancock Bank participating in the recent United Way Day of Caring ended up going above and beyond in their work at the Boys & Girls Club of the Emerald Coast. The team of nine, including Hancock Bank Emerald Coast market President Bruce Vredenburg, signed up to give back to the community with exterior power washing and painting an activity room at the club. But once those tasks were completed, the group decided the good cleaning and a fresh coat of blue paint just wasn’t quite enough.

“While we were proud of our painting efforts, we wanted to step it up for the kids and volunteers who use this room every day,” said Vredenburg. The team put their heads together and asked Sandy Porter, manager Branch Facilities, to reach out to the vendor who supplies flooring to all the Hancock Bank locations. While the team initially thought there might be flooring available from a recent remodeling of a Hancock Bank branch location, vendor Mannington Commercial Flooring upgraded the request with a donation of new carpeting and then tapped Pro Floors to carry the project through with free installation. As a result, the Boys and Girls Club of the Emerald Coast got more than they asked for with an upgraded room from top to bottom.

Speaking of the volunteer work and the extra effort the team did as a part of the project, Vredenburg said, “At Hancock Bank, our mission is to help make financial hopes and dreams come true. Sometimes, it’s a simple as going the extra mile to make sure the youth in the Emerald Coast get a helping hand.”
