Gifts for local children

There are 27 underprivileged kids at Wellspring Performing Arts Christian School in Niceville that Mission Love Seeds wants to provide for this Christmas. All age toys are needed, especially gift cards, movie passes, inexpensive perfume sets, nail polish and make up sets. We hope to collect as many toys as possible. We can also use new kids clothes and shoes of all sizes. All toys and clothes need to be received by Dec. 12. Email, visit to donate using PayPal, see Mission Love Seeds Charity page on Facebook, drop off toys at 55 Country Club Drive E in Destin or call 865-1055.

Senior Santa Tree

The Senior Santa Tree is up in the Destin Walmart. The tags on the tree are residents of area nursing homes who have no family and have not had a single visitor all year. Not one. And they won't have any Christmas without our help.

On the back of each tag is the name of a resident and their Christmas wish list. Pick a name, shop for them and bring your purchases, along with the tag, to the Customer Service Desk. We will wrap and deliver the gifts. Feel free to add items. There is a suggestion list right beside the tree. If you like, you can purchase from the donation need list and deliver to the Service Desk.

Like and follow us on Facebook at Railey's Annual Birthday Project/Remembering Our Elderly in Nursing Homes. Please share our page. Tell a friend about it. Share it with your co-workers or church family. This is the fifth year this project has been run on faith and volunteers, and we have always been blessed with donations so that we can provide Christmas gifts for these precious folks. We also provide items that are needed throughout the year.

The unfortunate fact is that many elderly are placed in a nursing home by court order and many times they come with only the clothes on their backs. Their lives still have purpose. It is heartbreaking to know that the reality is many elderly are living out the end of their lives forgotten by so many outside of the nursing home walls. Your help is greatly appreciated. Help the world with the gifts you give

The First Presbyterian Church, 134 Beal Parkway, SW, in Fort Walton Beach, has prepared its 19th Alternative Gifts Catalog, with 14 different causes from reputable helping agencies and a list of things you can buy for them in honor of folks on your gift list. Choices range from books for school libraries in Ethiopia; fresh water wells in South Sudan; things needed to plant vegetable gardens in Tanzania; rabies shots for pets in Okaloosa county; wheelchairs; pregnant goats for Haiti; medical help for Nepal; F R E S H Start in Fort Walton Beach; Medicine for Sharing and Caring; Helping build a Smart House for a severely injured airman in local area; and more.

You go through it and choose the items that different folks on your list would appreciate giving to others and fill out one order form, make a check out to the church and turn in the order. Then cards will be prepared for you for each gift explaining what gift you've chosen to give. Call the church 243-3731 or Carol Davis 243-4777.
