Need to relax, unwind, and unplug? Why not join the Destin Library’s Adult Coloring Book Club?

The new program offering will begin from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 7 and continue thereafter on the first Thursday of each month. The program is free but there may be a need for donations of colored pencils in the future.

“This is a growing trend in libraries across the nation,” says Jurate Burns, Destin Library director. Burns encourages anyone interested in this offering to “get in on the ground floor and help shape the program to suit your needs and desires.”

According to a recent American Libraries Magazine article many libraries “are welcoming the activity for its social, mental health, and creative benefits.” And the online site www.thecoloringbook.club/ lists the following four reasons to get involved with a program like this: (1) Stress Buster; (2) Feeling Accomplishment; (3) You Deserve a Break; and (4) Great Time Filler.
