Niceville’s Flying Needles Quilt Guild, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has announced the winner of this year’s opportunity quilt “Circle of Life." Billie Maddox’s name was drawn from a box of over 2,800 hopefuls.

The quilt was designed by guild member Pat Walker. Twenty guild members worked on this applique and paper-pieced quilt, which was quilted by long-arm quilting artist Patty Butcher. After completion, guild members suggested and selected the quilt’s name “Circle of Life."

Proceeds from the donation tickets help to fund all guild activities, including charity projects such as quilts, Christmas stockings, and pillow cases for those in shelters. The guild also makes Quilts of Valor for deserving veterans.

Flying Needles Quilt Guild meets the second Thursday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to noon at New Hope Baptist Church, 108 Aurora St. in Valparaiso. Visitors are always welcome.
