Family History workshop series to be held at Destin Library

Special to The Log

The Destin Library will host a series of hands-on free family history workshops, entitled Who Is in Your Family Tree?, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, April 19, May 17 and June 21 in the library’s computer lab. These programs are free and open to the public. New and repeat registrants are welcome.

Registrants must have a valid library card from any Okaloosa County Public Library – Crestview, Niceville, Valparaiso, Destin, Fort Walton Beach, and Mary Esther. Registrations will be limited to 18 participants on a first-come registration basis.

Workshop instructors, Elders Griffith and Mathewson, will encourage hands-on use of the FamilySearch website that purports to hold over two billion census records. FamilySearch.org is owned and operated by FamilySearch International, a nonprofit organization affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Who is in your family tree is a question many seek to answer. Millions of people are curious about who their ancestors are and where they came from. Workshop instructors will offer participants an avenue from which to pursue the answers to these and other genealogical questions.

To register for this upcoming workshop call the Destin Library at 850-837-8572. Registrations will be taken on a first-come basis.
