Community to gather for fundraiser, Rhinestones for Ronda

Special to The Log
Ronda Davenport

Friends, colleagues and family will host a fund raising event, Rhinestones for Ronda, at 6 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Ramada Plaza Beach Resort on Okaloosa Island to help with the burden of rising medical costs for Ronda Davenport, who is dealing with pancreatic cancer.

The vice president of resource development for the United Way of Okaloosa and Walton Counties for nearly two decades, Davenport loves bling, hence the name of the fund raiser.

"And so, the countdown begins to help our dear friend and colleague Ronda Davenport,” said Julie Hurst, CEO of the Emerald Coast Children’s Advocacy Center and friend. “She's helped so many in our community through her passion at United Way of Okaloosa and Walton Counties, and now it is our turn to help her. Mark your calendars, get on your bling and come out and help make a difference.”

Local celebs Aimee Shaffer will emcee, with Ted Corcoran handling the live auction bidding. The evening’s light-hearted activities to celebrate Davenport will include heavy hors d’oeuvres, cash bar, DJ music, live and silent auctions with items donated by area businesses, a wine wagon, bling rings for a chance to win prizes, a 50/50 raffle, and photos with a cardboard Ronda. Attire is casual, but accessorize with plenty of bling.

If an area businesses would like to donate an item, please contact Hurst at, or call 850-974-8668.

Tickets are $25 per person and can be bought online at or purchased at the door. For further information, contact Vicki Story Tarro at 850-863-7501 or email
