JLEC presents annual Touch-A-Truck

Special to The Log
[SPECIAL TO THE LOG]

The Junior League of the Emerald Coast will present its third annual Touch-A-Truck from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 8 at Destin Commons. A horn-free hour will be observed from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. for children with special needs and sensitive ears. This fundraising event provides families an opportunity to see, touch and learn about a variety of different vehicles that service our community.

Families will have the opportunity to learn about and explore emergency, construction, city service, and public safety vehicles and equipment. Each vehicle will have a driver present to answer questions and help kids explore. Participants include Destin Fire, Gulf Power, Waste Management and the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. There will also be coloring and face painting for the kids, and a raffle for adults. Additionally, the first 250 children to enter will receive a free gift bag with special discounts and goodies.

A donation of $2 per person or $5 per family is suggested for attendance. All donations benefit the Junior League of the Emerald Coast and help to ensure the success of programs such as Child Clothing Project, Kids in the Kitchen and Back to Books Bash.
