Volunteers needed for Adopt-A-Street program

Special to The Log
The Lisa Snuggs Real Estate Group adopted two streets, Benning from U.S. Highway 98 to Legion Drive and 98 Palms off Main Street, a few years ago. They spent April 1 picking up trash along "their" streets. [SPECIAL TO THE LOG]

The Adopt-A-Street program by the city of Destin asks residents and businesses to make a three year commitment to picking up trash along a street in Destin. This initiative has been around for some time, but it needs a fresh start and new participation will help.

Clean-ups are four times per year, on the first Saturday in January, April, July and October from 8-10 a.m. Signs will be placed along each adopted street displaying the individual or business name that has adopted it. Participants can choose their streets (available on a first-come, first-served basis).

If you would like to participate, call Lorraine Berish at 837-6869 or email her at lberish@cityofdestin.com for more information on this community service program.
